Man Avoids Jail After Illegally Storing Fireworks

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

A man's pleaded guilty to illegally storing fireworks in a Worthing shopping parade.

Samuel Mitchell, of Church Road in Partridge Green, has been given an 8 month suspended sentence.

Mitchell had planned to sell the 130 kilograms of fireworks from a shop he'd rented in Teville Gate.

But he didn't have a license and they weren't properly stored.

He was given a suspended prison sentence and ordered to do 180 hours of community service.

Trading Standards officials say people planning on selling fireworks must make sure paperwork and safety measures are in order.
