West Sussex Music Service’s Rock Academy in Worthing (RAW) at Northbrook College is holding workshops for 10-18 year olds who want to play in a band. The workshop includes rock band sessions coached by a professional and is for all drummers, vocalists, pianists, bassists and guitarists. The workshop runs on Mondays starting April 19, 6.30pm-7.30pm, or 7.30pm-8.30pm, costing £44 for 10 sessions. Booking and payment for the courses must be in advance. Saturday night is music night as the instrumentalists from the Community Band of Sir Robert Woodard Academy take to the stage for their big band night. The Shoreham Centre on Pond Road in Shoreham-by-Sea is the venue for this concert, which starts at 7.30. The Band, which is made up of adult instrumentalists from the Lancing and Sompting communities and further afield, will be performing music including a medley of Glenn Miller tunes, “There You’ll Be” from the film Pearl Harbour and “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from West End musical Hairspray. Sussex Keyboard & Organ Club hold regular concerts on the first Wednesday of each month at the Queen Street Centre, Queen Street, Worthing.
This years programme includes the following;

All Concerts start at 7.30pm. Refreshments are available and parking is free at the rear of the hall. Visitors welcome. Admission £6. an annual membership is available.

Worthing HO Racing holds monthly race meetings for all ages at The Barn at English Martyrs Church in Goring-by-Sea. Using fast 1/64 scale cars on long 4-lane circuits, the racing is competitive and fun. All equipment is provided. Young people 12 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Doors open at 6.30pm. Racing starts at 7.00pm and finishes by 9.30pm. Race fee: £2.50 per racer.

A 10 week course is starting for Ladies who wish to learn how to play Football. In association with the Sussex FA, the course takes place at Arun Leisure Centre and is led by professional coach, Kim Stenning, who plays top level football for Brighton and Hove Albion Ladies Football Club. Learn the skills and the knowledge required to play football between 6.30pm – 7.30pm at Arun Leisure Centre. It costs £35 as an Inspire Active Member and £45 as a Non Member or quote “Sussex FA” at the time of booking to pay just £20 for the course. It is open to any women over the age of 16. The annual Summer Revels event takes place at St John the Baptist Church in Findon. The Revels is a long cherished and popular school tradition which dates back over 150 years, including the children performing traditional May Pole dances, together with a whole host of village fete activities. It is a chance for everyone in the village, and beyond, to share in the festivities and help raise money for the school. The main fundraising objective this year is to help the school install a PV (electricity generating) Solar Panel System. This will benefit the school for example by saving on energy costs, reducing CO2 emissions and including the educational benefits to pupils through their involvement with the project.
