Through the year, Splash FM teams up with Worthing-based Saywell International, in order to give a special treat to some really deserving individuals or groups
Every quarter, we have two lots of £500 to spend on some of the most deserving people in the area - as we "Spoil Someone Rotten". Our latest winners were revealed at a special presentation at Saywell International HQ on the 8th of July
Our latest 'spoilees' are:
Harry Maplesden from Lancing (left), who was nominated by his daughter, Zoe. Harry clocked up 18 years of military service as part of the Blues and Royals. Nowadays he is unable to work through ill health, and dedicates his time to SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Accociation), where he acts as Division Secretary for this area. He also helps raise funds for 'BLESMA' (British Limbless Ex-Servicemen's Association).
Harry and his wife Sandra (a fundraiser for SSAFA) will be taking a trip to their army roots in Detmold, Germany, where Harry served (and the family lived) for a number of years.
Harry is pictured above, along with (from left to right) his wife Sandra, Daughter Zoe and Peter Saywell of Saywell International
Sara King from Durrington (centre), who was nominated by her husband Josh. Over a number of years, Josh has suffered from way more than his fair share of both physical and mental illness, and at one point even tried to take his own life. Sara has been his nurse - and his rock - for over twenty years.
Sara's big passion is gardening so, for her treat, we are going to arrange for a whole new-look garden, with consultation from the professionals
Congratulations to our latest winners. 'Spoil Someone Rotten' will return later in the year, so keep listening to Splash FM for details of when nominations open again. If you know of an individual or group that deserves a treat, it could be them next time!.
